Roger’s Moonwalk 2018
Starting from Clapham Common at 10.30 pm we set off into the night to hopefully raise a lot of sponsorship for more than a worthy cause.
Encouragement all the way from passing drivers to onlookers and revellers partying the night away….and some pretty odd looks. Not often have I chosen to wear pink leg warmers, a tutu and a bra for a Saturday night out.
The comradery amongst the walkers, the encouragement from the volunteers made this a very special evening. The London Eye and HMS Belfast were both illuminated pink for the occasion.
After 26.2 miles, 7.5 hours and some painful blisters we made it back to Clapham Common. For us to do our little bit, to train (which we did a lot) to put ourselves through the whole experience including the pain is nothing compared to what people who suffer from this dreadful disease have been through and to that end we hope that by raising money we did our little bit to show our support and let them know we are thinking of the them.
We crossed the line and hugged….it was just one of those moments.
None of us will ever forget this evening nor should any of us forget why we did it.
