Celebrate Pyrford on route to spur on the Prudential Ride London cycle festival!
The legendary Sir Bradley Wiggins, Britain’s most decorated cyclist, will line up on the start line of the third Prudential RideLondon-Surrey Classic on Sunday 2 August, part of the Mayor of London’s annual festival of cycling.
One of the world’s greatest festival of cycling will take place, with 95,000+ cyclists participating in five separate events on traffic-free roads in London and Surrey. 25,000 amateur cyclists will also tackle an 100- mile route through London and Surrey, following a similar route to the Olympic Cycling Road Race.
Prudential RideLondon is a multi-award winning world-class festival of cycling developed by the Mayor of London, London & Partners and Transport for London in partnership with Surrey County Council. The event is managed by the London & Surrey Cycling Partnership. The Prudential RideLondon festival of cycling has been a huge success, becoming the biggest inaugural mass-participation sports event in the world and raising more than £7 million for charity.
The riders will begin at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and pass through central London before entering Surrey at Hampton Court Bridge. They will pass through Walton-on-Thames, Weybridge, Byfleet, Pyrford, Ripley and West Horsley before tackling the steep slopes up Leith Hill. After passing through Westcott and Dorking, they will ride up and around Box Hill before heading through Leatherhead, Cobham and Esher and back into London to finish at The Mall.
Celebrate Pyrford is a family fun day running alongside the RideLondon. The event is run by the community for the community and takes place on 2nd August at Pyrford Cricket Ground, Cold Harbour Road. As always, a large crowd is expected, especially as Bradley Wiggins and Mark Cavendish will be in the professional race.
All day free attractions include: Bike track, large outdoor TV screen, fun inflatables – Giant slide, bungee run, adult bouncy castle, child’s bouncy castle, disco. Plenty of refreshments will be on offer including tea, coffee, soft drinks and cakes, Hogs Back Brewery Beer, wine & Pimms Tent, BBQ and Ice Creams.
